Toyota Unveils the New bZ4X: More Power, Range and Style from £39,995

Toyota has officially revealed pricing and key details for the refreshed bZ4X, the brand’s pioneering all-electric SUV, now starting from £39,995. Orders for the new model open on 3 November, with the first customer deliveries expected in January. Three years after the original bZ4X debuted as Toyota’s first purpose-built electric SUV, this latest iteration arrives with major technical upgrades, a choice of two new battery options, improved range, and a more refined driving experience.

One of the most significant updates is the introduction of two battery options – 57.7 kWh and 73.1 kWh – allowing customers to choose between performance and affordability. The flagship Excel grade also gains a 22 kW on-board charger for faster AC charging and a battery pre-conditioning system to optimise performance in all weather conditions. These upgrades mark a major step forward in Toyota’s ongoing development of its BEV technology.

Visually, the new bZ4X has been given a sharper and more distinctive presence. A redesigned front end introduces a new light bar that connects the slim LED headlights, accentuating Toyota’s signature hammerhead styling. Other enhancements include new alloy wheel designs and glossy piano black wheel arches, giving the SUV a more premium, dynamic edge. Inside, Toyota has completely reimagined the cabin layout, now featuring a slimline dashboard and a large 14-inch multimedia display as standard. The central console, dubbed the “digital island,” integrates twin wireless smartphone chargers and adds a futuristic feel to the space.

Comfort and refinement have also been elevated. The bZ4X benefits from re-tuned suspension for improved ride comfort and sharper handling, while enhanced insulation reduces noise and vibration within the cabin. Buyers can also opt for an enlarged panoramic roof, amplifying the sense of space and light inside. Across the range, standard features such as ambient cabin lighting, heated front seats, a power tailgate, and advanced safety systems like the Blind Spot Monitor make the new bZ4X one of the most generously equipped electric SUVs in its class.

The updated lineup includes Icon, Design and Excel grades, each offering a tailored blend of equipment and performance. The entry-level Icon starts at £39,995 with front-wheel drive and the 57.7 kWh battery. The Design (£45,795) steps up to the larger battery, while the Excel (£48,995 FWD / £51,545 AWD) brings luxury appointments such as ventilated seats, synthetic leather upholstery and a digital rear-view mirror. For those seeking an extra touch of sophistication, the Premium Pack - adding a panoramic roof, JBL sound system and bi-tone paint - can be added for £2,500. With its enhanced technology, efficiency and premium feel, the new Toyota bZ4X represents a bold evolution in the brand’s all-electric lineup.

Overall, the new Toyota bZ4X represents a confident step forward in Toyota’s electric vehicle evolution, blending advanced technology, striking design, and everyday usability. With the introduction of two new battery options, improved efficiency, and a driving range of up to 352 miles, it offers greater flexibility and practicality for modern motorists. Inside, the refreshed cabin design with its new 14-inch multimedia display, dual wireless chargers, and enhanced comfort features creates a premium, connected driving environment. Combined with refined ride comfort, all-wheel-drive availability, and an extensive list of standard equipment across all grades, the latest bZ4X delivers a more compelling ownership experience than ever before - reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to innovation, performance, and sustainability in the all-electric SUV market.
