Experience the All-New Toyota Urban Cruiser: Electrifying Performance Meets Everyday Practicality

Our All-New, All-Electric Urban Cruiser demonstrator has finally arrived at our Toyota Centre, and is available for test drives. The Toyota Urban Cruiser marks a bold step forward in Toyota’s electric journey, bringing cutting-edge BEV technology to the heart of the compact SUV market. Combining a confident, robust design with impressive driving range, advanced connectivity and flexible interior space, Urban Cruiser is designed around real customer needs, offering everyday practicality with the efficiency and performance expected from a modern electric SUV.

Urban Cruiser is built on a dedicated new BEV platform engineered to maximise cabin space, driving range and overall refinement. The underfloor-mounted battery pack forms part of the vehicle’s structure, enhancing strength and rigidity while lowering the centre of gravity for stable, agile handling. High-tensile steel is used throughout the body to reduce weight without compromising durability, and aerodynamic underfloor covers help smooth airflow to improve efficiency.

The Icon grade equips the Urban Cruiser with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch multimedia display, 10.25-inch digital river’s combimeter, the sliding rear seat system and an air conditioning unit with an energy-saving heat pump. The safety and driving assistance features include a Blind Spot Monitor, rear-view camera, Pre-Collision System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist and Road Sign Assist.

Moving up to Design grade, the specification extended to heated front seats and steering wheel, auto-retracting heated door mirrors and a windscreen wiper de-icer, together with the higher capacity battery.

At the top of the range the Excel version provides 19-inch alloys, a premium JBL sound system, wireless smartphone charger, a fixed glass sunroof with manual shade, LED headlights with an Adaptive High-beam System, a Panoramic View Monitor and upholstery featuring a combination of fabric and high-quality synthetic leather.

49kWh Powertrain

The 49kWh Urban Cruiser offers an efficient and responsive electric driving experience, powered by a compact eAxle delivering 106kW (142bhp) and 193Nm of torque. With smooth, linear acceleration and a 0–62mph time of 9.6 seconds, it is well suited to everyday driving, while an estimated WLTP combined range of up to 214 miles makes it a practical choice for urban and commuter use.

61kWh Powertrain

For drivers seeking greater performance and extended range, the 61kWh powertrain delivers increased output of 128kW (172bhp) with the same strong 193Nm of torque. Acceleration is brisk, reaching 0–62mph in just 8.7 seconds, and the larger battery provides an impressive WLTP combined range of up to 265 miles, offering added confidence for longer journeys without compromising refinement or efficiency.

When using DC charging, a battery charge from 10 to 80 per cent is expected to take 45 minutes. For 15 to 100 per cent charging with a three-phase 11kW AC power supply, the time should be around six hours; single-phase 7kW AC charging should accomplish the same charging performance in about 9.5 hours. The system includes a “My Room” charging mode that allows drivers to use the air conditioning and audio system while sitting in their vehicle while charging is in progress.

Urban Cruiser’s long wheelbase delivers a surprisingly spacious and highly versatile interior, combining SUV presence with a modern, open cabin design. A high driving position, excellent visibility and a low-set, horizontally styled instrument panel enhance comfort and confidence, while smart packaging creates generous passenger room and flexible load space. Thoughtful details such as a sliding and split-folding rear seat system, intuitive digital controls, ambient lighting and multiple charging points ensure the interior can be easily adapted for everyday driving.

Like all new Toyota BEVs, the Urban Cruiser promises long-lasting battery quality, durability, and reliability. Toyota’s Battery Care Program ensures the battery is covered each year for up to 10 years of vehicle age or up to 650,000 miles driven, contingent on an annual battery health check*.

Urban Cruiser delivers confident, stress-free manoeuvring thanks to an advanced suite of driver assistance technologies. . Front and rear parking sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitor further enhance awareness, warning the driver of approaching vehicles that may be hidden from view.

Safety is a core strength across the range, with a comprehensive package of advanced active safety features fitted as standard. These include a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian, cyclist and motorcycle detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist, Lane Departure Alert and Road Sign Assist.
